We're doomed...

If these people are even partially representative of the approximately 70,000 people (no, not 1 or 2 million) who marched on Washington, D.C. Saturday, we are in big trouble. It's impossible to have intelligent political discourse with the uneducated.

"Fascism is a form of socialism, I would believe. They're all intertwined. Communism, fascism, socialism...they all have a little of each...they borrowed from each other."

"He wants to have a nation of, what, 2 million of citizen army, armed as well as the army."

"They mention his name in the Bible. I think it was under Hebrew."

"He's a Muslim."

"We live by the Constitution and by God, we'll die by the Constitution."

"Glenn Beck is such a logical thinker."

Yes, we have serious problems in this country that need to be addressed. Reasonable, thinking people can and do have differing opinions on how best to solve them. But as long as lies and misinformation are taken as fact and become the focus of the debate, there can be no solution. As long as entertainers such as Limbaugh and Beck continue to rake in the big bucks by stirring up the populace with lies and hatred, this nation will remain mired in a muddy bog of inefficiency, injustice and distrust. When our legendary American ingenuity is wasted on coming up with slogans, t-shirts, bumper stickers and protest signs we are all the worse for it.
