Peace out!

Today is the International Day of Peace:

"Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples."

“We want a future where natural resources are protected and valued rather than used to finance wars, where children can be educated at school and not recruited into armies, where economic and social inequalities are resolved through dialogue instead of violence.”
- Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations

This year’s theme, “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future” highlights the connections between sustainable development and sustainable worldwide peace. Find out more and discover resources for thinking and praying about sustainable peace at the UN’s website!

"If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace."
John Lennon
