1. Head of Purchasing:
According to this latest "OMG! Look what they're doing!" bit of b.s., the U.S. government has recently purchased 30,000 guillotines. This story seems to have originated with an anti-Muslim blog and I predict that it will spread like wildfire throughout the right-wing blogosphere and Facebook. You really do have to admire the creativity and gruesome touch of this one.
2. Truck Stop:
There are a few versions of this one but essentially someone discovers a truck load of signs declaring martial law thereby uncovering the nefarious plot. It's not true and even if martial law were declared, it wouldn't require the posting of signs.
3. Citizen Pain:
This is another new one which makes the following claim by someone named Dr. Jim Garrow:
I have just been informed by a former senior military leader that Obama is using a new "litmus test" in determining who will stay and who must go in his military leaders. Get ready to explode folks. "The new litmus test of leadership in the military is if they will fire on US citizens or not." Those who will not are being removed. There is no evidence of this. No reputable sources are reporting it. There is no evidence of recent purging of military leaders. And it's being purported by someone with a history of promoting other discredited conspiracies.
I'm not entirely sure what makes people want to believe crap like this but it does provide for some interesting television as well as forum reading.
Now go forth and share the truth!
