Sunday Soul ~ "Down By the Riverside" (The Mercy Brothers)

We've seen these guys live twice now and trust me, a video does not do them justice. You have to see them live in order to feel the energy they project. The first time we saw them was in a bar in Austin, the second was on the patio of The House of Blues in New Orleans on a Sunday during French Quarter Fest. Both shows were a foot-stomping good time and we came away feeling as though we'd had church. The good kind. If you ever get a chance to see The Mercy Brothers...and I cannot stress this it. I promise you won't regret it.

Watch this for more of The Mercy Brothers:

You can buy their CD on Amazon here. And they've got a new one coming out this Spring, I believe.

Review quotes:

"A marriage between church revival and nightclub raucousness." Leslie D. Rose,

"Gospel music you can dance to in a nightclub on Saturday night or be saved the morning." John Conquest, 3rd Coast Music

"These make-believe ministers sang and played music that sounded like Jimmy Swaggart on a Sunday morning, but as wild as Jerry Lee Lewis celebrating his sixth divorce." Herman Fusilier, Offbeat
